The Global Study of Sexual Attitudes and Behaviors

Of the 27,500 middle-aged and older adults (ages 40-80) surveyed in twenty-nine countries on the subject of the physical and emotional qualities of their sex lives, some major findings were:

• Highest levels of sexual well-being are found in Western nations with relatively more gender equality.
• The greatest sexual satisfaction was found among women and men in these five countries: Austria, Spain, Canada, Belgium, and the United States.
• In more male-dominant societies, lower levels of sexual satisfaction were found, with lowest levels in East Asia (especially Japan and Taiwan), and Middle-Eastern nations such as Turkey, Egypt, and Algeria were in the middle.
